French museum in Normandy leaves out American flag
The Dissident Frogman (www.thedissidentfrogman.com) has recently been to a war museum in Normandy, France, where he found out that the American flag is not displayed anymore:
I'm just coming back from Normandy and still have to unpack, but I wanted to offer you a new game to play, particularly if you're in for a D-Day tour this summer.
If you planned it, you may want to cancel your visit to the Musée Mémorial de la Bataille de Normandie (Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy) in Bayeux.
Unless you would like to play this game, I told you about. It's called: "Guess what's missing at a museum dedicated to the Battle of Normandy, 1944?"
Let's see if you're as good at this game as the dissident frogman:
1) Guess what's missing on an empty pole, around a monument to the liberators in the Museum's park up front?
2) Guess what's missing in an empty space in the lapel pin's display case at the Museum's shop?
3) Guess what's missing on an empty pedestal on top of the Museum shop's checkout, at the exit?
I could fire up a ferocious comment but I'm still disgusted by these three "coincidences". What's more, I couldn't get any lucid and convincing explanation for this "fortuitous" accrual. But maybe you can:
Bayeux's Mayor office:
The Memorial Museum:
Boulevard Fabian Ware - 14400 Bayeux

Fax : +33 (0)2 31 51 46 91

Update: The Dissident Frogman has discovered that the empty flagpole never flies a US flag, and that there were no pins and small flags in the shop there because they were sold out.

The reason the US flag is missing from the mast is because this is a monument specifically dedicated to the British regiment who liberated Bayeux. The mast is ever empty except one day a year when it flies the regimental flag of that regiment.
You can't spin yourself out of this (I see you have an email address from France).
Check out the original article from the "Dissident Frogman" where there's a picture from last year with the US flag.
This is the very reason, why french loathe americans. Americans liberated this ungrateful nation twice and as a ridiculous conclusion in their wounded french pride, americans are guilty of somehow humiliating la gand nation just for saving them.
If it were to the french they would rewrite history if possible. But if not for the americans, the french would speak now german, living in Germania's provinces Gallia inferior and superior.
Hey Frenchy, if the museum is specifically deticated to the British regiment, then why is there a Canadian flag there? And don't say that it's because they were a British commonwealth, because
1. it is the MODERN Canadian flag that is displayed (not the one with the union jack in the canton).
2. there is no Australian flag there, or South African Flag, or Indian flag (exc, exc, exc... ).
3. There are empty stands and poles where the American flag used to stand.
Explain yourself. No, actually, please don't. I don't feel like listening to your typical FRENCH whining and spin doctoring.
I'll just say this, though -- I hope that on of the ba'athists or islamic terrorists who you love so much turns around and detonate a nuke in the center of Paris. And this time around, I hope that America doesn't come to your aide. And I hope that the Israelis who you hate so much dance in the streets. But, naturally, both they and the 'yanks' will probably come to the rescue, because your people are culturally defective, worthless, and ignorant.
Let's not generalize boys. It's just that some french people are really arrogant, but no way blind at all, now they realize their mistake on importing young muslims to work in France, but the ban on religious symbols in school won't save them from becoming a muslim society.
> why is there a Canadian flag there
Google for "Juno Beach".
> There are empty stands and poles where the American flag used to stand.
No. It was another lie from DF. Have a look to
Thanks for the link to pierrecarion.com with a letter from the mayor of Bayeux and pictures of the American flag around town; that surely clears it up.
I'd like to point out that the Dissident Frogman issued an apology for his mistake - see the "Update" note above, with a link to DF's explanations:
"Update: The Dissident Frogman has discovered that the empty flagpole never flies a US flag, and that there were no pins and small flags in the shop there because they were sold out. "
if it wasnt for the french, americans would be english.
This blog posting was of great use in learning new information and also in exchanging our views. Thank you.
